The reality.

We are officially in the month of May and let’s be frank you’ve already received some bad news. Bad news come in all forms. Job loss, ended friendships, failed divorce, failed class, wrong business decisions, family issues, loss of a loved one and the list is endless. I am pretty sure either one or more fell into your category of unsatisfying news.

Examine yourself.

On that day, On that specific day my life felt like a sour-patch candy. It went from high hopes of passing to disappointments. Have you ever felt that way? You had such massive hopes you will overcome a goal only for all your effort to sink down the drain. My eyes wanted to cry for days, my heart pounded in discouragement and I did not want to share the news with my family. It was too much to bear, but what if I told you there was a secret to leaping over those feelings and being joyful again even in the current bad news phase? Would you believe me?

Before we get down to business. Examine yourself. How do you respond to negative news? Are you type 1 you react out of fear? Type 2, you shut down, type 3, you cry and linger in what is happening or type 4 does it make you run to other people for comfort? I might add none of these types above are a sin, but you’re reading this blog for secrets on getting over bad news. Besides, there are ways God wants the believer to deal with trials and tribulations. You’ll never be the same after reading this…..

So what’s the secret? PRAISE!

Really? Is that all there is to it? YES! No hidden agenda, no lies, but all black and white. Praise is the secret to getting over bad news. In the human mind, it is natural to receive a news and go into deep thought, but you cannot stay there! Command your spirit to override your flesh. You can do ALL things through the strength of Jesus Christ so why not take full advantage of that scripture?

Two examples demonstrating this secret.

King Jehoshaphat, collected information from these messengers who declared three different armies were fixing to go against him. The word of God said he was terrified (this is a natural feeling, but he did not stay there) He sought the Lord for guidance. Furthermore, he ordered everyone in Judah to conduct a fast. Moreover, God’s word through a spirit filled man to King Jehoshaphat were “Do not be afraid, Don’t be discouraged by this mighty army, for the battle is not yours, but God’s.

This was God’s response. Faith will always be God’s language. He wants it to be yours too. After the King consulted the people, he appointed singers to walk ahead of the army singing in Praise “ Give thanks to the Lord his faithful love endures forever” Whew! How encouraging!

I know you’ve heard the story of Job. Job had plenty and the enemy tested him by taking all that he had. God allowed it to happen. Perhaps, what you are experiencing is all a part of God’s plan for your life, did you ever consider this thought? The bible was careful to let us know JOB fell down and worshiped. Here is an assignment for you. The next time, because there will be another moment you will receive bad news, start singing. Glorify God in that moment and lift him up higher than your current emotion. Yes, with all the heaviness and uncertainty give him praise. Why? Because he is all knowing and he deserves it.

Your turn.

You never know what victory lies within your praise. While you are esteeming God higher, he is taking care of your business. Practice praising Jesus Christ through the ugly storm and you’ll see a beautiful finish either physically or supernaturally in your life.
