20 Mar 4 WAYS TO LET GO WHILE EMBRACING YOUR FUTURE.
We all have a past. There is something about us that either a family, friend, or significant other don’t know only God. For some of us the thought of our past makes us cringe because we replay the sunny days unexpected things happen, the rainy days that aligned with our tears and we remember how the pain made us feel, but if you would only allow the past to be what it is the past you would have so much peace.
What happens when we look back too long?
When we look back for too long we do not grasp the new thing that God is doing before us. It’s no dilemma to look back, but if your eyes are fixed on the rear view mirror it won’t be long until you get into a crash due to lack of focus. The letdowns, disappointments, failures and mistakes occurred to make you a better person not to slow you down.

I want to share 4 ways to let go of your past and embrace your tomorrow in hopes that you’ll be encourage!
- BE INTENTIONAL ABOUT YOUR FUTURE
What does it mean to be intentional? To be intentional means done on purpose, deliberate, calculated and intended. The word of God talks about counting the cost when building something. I want you to think about this step you are about to make. Moving forward looks like leaving all that you use to be and agree with the kingdom of God for the new you. New way of thinking, new way of understanding, new way of responding and more! Philippians 3:13 KJV Brothers, I do not consider that I have it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead. Process this, what is worth leaving behind for your future? How intentional are you?
- DO NOT DWELL ON WHAT USED TO BE
Ecclesiastes 7:10 Say not why were the former days better than these? For it is not from wisdom that you ask this. God doesn’t want his children living in the old days because he has expected plans ahead for you according to Jeremiah 29:11 He has plans to give you hope and a future. I want to encourage you to call off the relationship of living in the use to be and make time for now.
- FORGIVE OTHERS AND YOURSELF
In my first blog Leap of faith in forgiveness I talk about forgiveness and why it is imperative unforgiveness in your heart. Forgiving others is a major key to healing and deliverance. God says if you don’t forgive others he won’t forgive you of your sins (ouch!) Can we be honest to exclaimed that we need God to forgive us for the many errors we’ll make in this lifetime? Why not extend the same grace to somebody else? The second part is forgiving yourself. Accept the bad break-up that did not work out, the failed tests, the delays and the broken promises and move on with peace. May God give you new eyes to see and be set free.
- FINALLY, RECEIVE THE NEW (PUT ON A NEW MINDSET)
In conclusion, this is a tricky step. Why tricky? Imagine this. You’ve seen many victims who struggled for years being drug addicts. They perceive getting high makes them forget about their issues here on earth. Now, suppose an individual make the same first step in getting clean it then becomes a battle. The old mindset will be in conflict with the new mindset. Romans 12: 2 tells us to renew our mind. It is your responsibility to renew it each day. Will you allow your past to play tic-tac- toe or will you choose to accept whatever happened, take the lesson it taught you and press toward the mark? The decision will always be yours.
